Gmail Backup

Posted on February 2, 2012 - April 24, 2017 by vrpc
It is great to be in the cloud Smile

If you ever decide to cleanup your gmail and permanently delete messages from your trash maybe you will be interested to make backup of your emails first.

The free solution which worked the best for me is from mailstore.com
It is windows only but it worked great.
After making full backup of my mailbox I was able to delete any number of messages and then individually or bulk restore them back without any problem.
(it will place them in a restored folder in you gmail and then you can move them back to your inbox)

Other possible solutions for gmail backup are listed here: http://techsplurge.com/3250/5-ways-backup-gmail/

T-Mobile to offer 3G data service for iPhones

Posted on January 30, 2012 - April 24, 2017 by vrpc

Great news (rumor) after the failed AT&T & T-Mobile merger, T-Mobile should be granted to use some of the AT&Ts spectrum to be compatible with the iPhone 3G frequency.

vSphere enable copy and paste

Posted on August 4, 2011 - April 24, 2017 by vrpc
copy and paste using the console in vSphere is disabled by default. (security feature)

to enable copy and paste:

1. using vSphere client right click on the virtual machine and click on edit settings.
2. navigate to : options/ advanced/ general and click on configuration parameters.
click add row and add these two parameters:
isolation.tools.copy.disable – false
isolation.tools.paste.disable – false

It is possible to set this as a default for all the vms using the ssh access and editing this file: /etc/vmware/config

GOOGLE+

Posted on July 14, 2011 - April 25, 2017 by vrpc

Move to Google + or Not

to prepare make sure you have a backup Smile1. backup your pictures and save them from Facebook:
goto Account/ Account Settings
click on learn more next to Download your information (enter your FB password)
you will request the download and Facebook will notify you by email when it is ready
(This could take couple of hours depending on the number if pictures you have)
Once you receive the email notification you can click on the download link and save
your pictures to your computer.
(this will strip down any comments and custom names from your pictures)

2. Contact import is broken at this time because Facebook broke it Sad
here is the info which doesn’t work at this time: http://www.techfeb.com/2011/07/import-fa…ogle-plus/

ISO Disk Image Mounter

Posted on July 13, 2011 - April 24, 2017 by vrpc
If you have backup copy of your installation media most likely it is in ISO format.
You can burn it to a CD/ DVD or extract it and use it for installation. The other option is to use free DAEMON Tools lite program to attach the ISO file as a CD/ DVD.here is the link: http://www.disc-tools.com/download/daemon

I recommend selecting only the DAEMON Tools Lite Core Files during the installation.

iOS 4 pdf vulnerability

Posted on July 13, 2011 - April 24, 2017 by vrpc

Another reason to jailbreak Smile

If your iPhone or iPad is free from apple you can protect yourself against the PDF vulnerability.
Here is more info:
http://www.iphonehacks.com/2011/07/insta…ility.html
The other option is not to open PDF files from untrusted sources and wait for apple to fix it.
